EvoLudo is a comprehensive, flexible and extensible toolkit to model evolutionary processes in (structured) populations using individual based simulations as well as ordinary, stochastic and partial differential equations. The same code runs as a Java application for fast numerical investigations or in a web browser (as a JavaScript application) to visualize processes or recreate and further explore published results. A collection of interactive tutorials are available at https://www.evoludo.org. The modular setup of EvoLudo includes modules for the Moran process, 2x2 games, etc. and allows to easily add new types of games and processes.
The goal of the workshop is to enable participants to navigate the code base of EvoLudo and to showcase its capabilities by (re-)creating a module for 2x2 games one step at a time.
Basic knowledge of coding in java (or object oriented languages) is a pre-requisite. Familiarity with tools including git, maven and VSCode is desirable but not required. Participants are expected to bring their own laptops with software pre-installed and the EvoLudo repository downloaded at the beginning of the workshop. More detailed instructions will be made available to the participants closer to the workshop.
