The full workshop is designed for python beginners. The intermediate python users can independently join the data analysis part on day 4 and 5. On the first three days, we will introduce the programming fundamentals in python. On the last two days, we will dive into data analysis, statistics, and publication grade visualisation within the python environment.

Online conference website

The workshop will run as a virtual event at https://meet.gwdg.de/b/car-pvw-hcw-7ld .

Required software

You will need the following software installed on your computer:

* git (https://git-scm.com/downloads)
* anaconda (https://www.anaconda.com/products/individual)

Detailled installation instructions can be obtained here: https://gitlab.gwdg.de/mpievolbio-scicomp/rsd-workshop/-/blob/master/Installation%20%5Bpre%20workshop%5D.ipynb
or as a pdf including screenshots for windows users: https://gitlab.gwdg.de/mpievolbio-scicomp/rsd-workshop/-/blob/master/Material%20in%20pdf/Installation%20%5Bpre%20workshop%5D.pdf .

NOTE If you have recently participated in the workshop "Reseach Software Development", you most likely have all the required software installed. On a similar note, installing VSCode is not required. We will use the python IDE spyder which is bundled into anaconda.

If you experience any trouble installing the software, please contact us by replying to this mail.

We will host a dedicated installation support meeting on Friday, Feb. 5 3pm-4pm at the online conference site  https://meet.gwdg.de/b/car-pvw-hcw-7ld. Feel free to join if you run into trouble with the installations or just want to check everything works.

Last minute cancellations

Last not least, please let us know as soon as possible if you changed your mind and will not participate in the workshop. There may still be other people ready to take your seat.

We are looking forward to an exciting week full of python.
