Aquavit aims to foster scientific communication by offering a vibrant platform to establish scientific collaborations among the departments. Thus, in this symposium we encourage all groups and departments to present the highlights of their current advanced research projects and future studies.

We ask the abstract submission to give a 15-minute talk. Talks can be given by everyone including directors, group leaders, postdoctoral researchers, Ph.D. and graduate students.

We are looking forward to seeing you all at Aquavit 2018!

Organization committee: Elzbieta Iwaszkiewicz, Maryam Keshavarz, Joana Bernardes, Gökçe Ayan (MPI for Evolutionary Biology, Plön).

Registration and abstract submission is open until 30th of April, 2018.

It is our pleasure to announce the names of invited speakers for the Aquavit 2018

Prof. Dr. Oded Rechavi (Tel Aviv University, Israel)

Rechavi group studies the molecular basis of learning and memory through different areas, such as non-mendelian genetics, epigenetic inheritance and its consequences to variability and selection.

Dr. Weini Huang (Queen Mary University of London, UK and Sun Yet-san University, China)

Huang group uses evolutionary theory to model individual interactions under random mutations, predator-prey coevolution, evolution of tumor heterogeneity and resistance.

Prof. Dr. Gregory Velicer (ETH Zurich, Switzerland)

Velicer group is interested in how social traits of microorganisms, such as social motility, coordinated predation, and cooperative construction of fruiting bodies can impact ecosystem dynamics.
